The best link shorteners for affiliate links in 2026
Seven link shorteners compared on what affiliate creators need: editing links after you publish, click data, free-plan limits and what happens to your affiliate tags.

The best link shortener for affiliate links is one that lets you change where a link points after you've published it. Affiliate links break: products get discontinued, programs change, retailers go out of stock. If the short link in a two-year-old video can be pointed somewhere new, the video keeps earning. If it can't, you have to edit every place you posted it.
We compared seven tools on what matters for affiliate links specifically, using each company's own pricing, feature and help pages, checked on October 5, 2026. One of them, Setup101, is ours, and it isn't a general-purpose shortener. We've tried to be as fair to it as to the rest, including where the others are a better choice.

What to look for in a shortener for affiliate links
- Editable destinations. Can you change where a short link points after you've shared it, and is that on the free plan? This is the feature that saves old content.
- Click data. How many clicks are tracked, what you learn about them, and for how long the history is kept.
- What the tool does to your link. Some free plans add their own affiliate tracking to shopping links. Check before you put your own affiliate links through one.
- A branded domain. A short link on your own domain looks more trustworthy than a generic one, and you keep it if you switch tools.
- Where the product is shown. A short link takes people straight to a retailer. If you recommend several products from one video, a page that shows them all can do more of the selling.
- Your affiliate program's rules. Some programs restrict shortened or masked links, and most expect clear disclosure. Check yours before you shorten.
The tools, in detail
Short.io
Short.io is a URL shortener with custom domains and analytics. Its free plan is generous for affiliate use: you get 5 custom domains, click statistics for your first 50,000 clicks a month, and you can change a link's destination at any time on every plan, including free. Short.io allows commercial use on the free plan. Hobby, at $5/month or $50/year, adds country targeting; Pro ($18/month) adds link cloaking, which Short.io's help center describes as a way to hide affiliate codes. It also has link-in-bio pages and iOS and Android apps. Short.io keeps aggregated click statistics for 26 months.
Best for: creators who want branded, editable short links without paying much.
Dub
Dub describes itself as a link attribution platform: short links, conversion tracking and affiliate programs. Its free plan includes 25 new links a month, 3 custom domains, 30 days of analytics and API access, and you can edit a link's destination as often as you like for free. Pro is $30/month ($27/month billed yearly), with 1,000 new links a month, a year of analytics, deep links and geo-targeting. Dub Partners, on its $90/month Business plan and above, is for companies running their own affiliate program, not for individual affiliates. Dub doesn't offer a link-in-bio page or mobile apps.
Best for: technical creators and brands who want detailed link data, or run an affiliate program of their own.
Bitly
Bitly is the best-known link shortener, with QR codes and simple landing pages as well as short links. The free plan is limited for affiliate use: 5 links a month, and links can't be redirected after publishing. Core, at $10/month billed yearly ($120), gives you 100 links and 5 redirects a month and 30 days of click data. Growth ($29/month billed yearly) adds branded links on a custom domain.
Best for: brands and businesses that want QR codes and landing pages alongside short links.
Rebrandly
Rebrandly makes branded short links on your own domain, on every plan including free. The free plan gives you 10 links a month and a link-in-bio page with a Rebrandly watermark, but free links can't be pointed somewhere new after publishing. Essentials, at $11/month or $8/month billed yearly, gives you 250 links and 10 destination edits a month. Clicks are unlimited on every plan; the detailed click data you see is capped by plan. It has an API on every plan, 50+ integrations, QR codes, UTM tags and iOS and Android apps. Rebrandly lists broken link management on its Enterprise plan.
Best for: creators and teams who want every link they share on their own branded domain.
TinyURL
TinyURL has been shortening links since 2002, and its links never expire. The free plan gives you 30 links a month, but no click analytics and no way to change a link's destination later. One thing to know before using it for affiliate links: TinyURL says that links made by guests and free accounts to shopping sites may be automatically converted into affiliate links through its partner Sovrn Commerce, and that ad-blockers can then send some visitors to the wrong page. Upgrading to Pro 125 ($11/month, or $9/month billed yearly) removes this, and adds editable destinations, analytics with two years of history and 3 branded domains.
Best for: quick, permanent short links, on a paid plan if they're affiliate links.
Geniuslink
Geniuslink is a smart-link tool rather than a general shortener. Its main job is sending each Amazon click to the shopper's local Amazon store, and it alerts you when an Amazon link breaks or a product goes out of stock. Pricing is $6/month including 1,000 clicks, then $3.50 per 1,000, after a 14-day trial.
Best for: creators with lots of international Amazon traffic.
Setup101
Setup101 isn't a link shortener. It's for creators who recommend a set of products, like a desk setup, a camera bag or a coffee corner. Each setup gets one short link, with a photo, note and buy link for every product on the page. When you swap a product, you change it in the setup and the link in your old videos and posts stays the same; there's no monthly limit on changes. Your profile doubles as your link in bio, and there are iOS and Android apps.
The limitations: buy links on products are a Pro feature ($15/month or $150/year). The free plan lets you publish setups and share their links, but not earn from them. Pro also monitors your links and alerts you when one breaks, and Setup101 doesn't take a share of your commission. It can't shorten an arbitrary URL, add QR codes or put links on your own domain; a shortener is better for that.
Best for: creators who link several products from each video or post, and want one link that never needs editing.
How permanent setup links work
How to choose
- You want editable branded links for free: Short.io or Dub, which both let you change destinations on their free plans.
- You need QR codes, landing pages or a well-known name: Bitly or Rebrandly, on a paid plan if you need to edit links later.
- Most of your affiliate income is Amazon, with international traffic: Geniuslink.
- You link a set of products from each video: a setup on Setup101, so one link covers the lot and products can change without editing anything.
- You're using a free shortener for affiliate links: check that it doesn't add its own affiliate tracking. TinyURL's free plan can.
Many creators use two of these together. A common combination is a branded short link that points to a Setup101 setup, so the link carries your brand and the products behind it can change.
Frequently asked questions
Can I shorten affiliate links?
Usually, yes. Most shorteners allow affiliate links, but your affiliate program may have its own rules about shortened or masked links, and you still need to disclose that the link is an affiliate link. Check the program's terms before you shorten.
Which link shorteners let you edit a link for free?
Of the tools here, Short.io and Dub let you change a link's destination on their free plans. Bitly, Rebrandly and TinyURL only allow it on paid plans. On Setup101, you change the products in a setup rather than the link itself, and the setup link stays the same.
Do link shorteners hurt affiliate commissions?
A shortener shouldn't change who earns the commission, but check what yours does to shopping links. TinyURL says free and guest links to shopping sites may be automatically converted into affiliate links through Sovrn Commerce. Ad-blockers can also interfere with some redirects.
Do I still need a link shortener if I use Setup101?
Not for the products in your setups: each setup already has its own short link. A shortener is still useful for links that aren't products, for QR codes, and for putting links on your own domain.
How we compared: each tool's pricing and features come from its own website and help center, checked on October 5, 2026 (Geniuslink on October 2, 2026). Prices change, so check the vendor's site before you decide. Setup101 is our product.
