How to get sponsored as a small creator without cold pitching

Brands are spending more on small creators but struggle to find them. Five ways to be found and booked without cold emails, with sourced 2026 data.

5 min read

You get sponsored without cold pitching by making yourself easy to find and easy to book: publish your prices, give brands a way to book you directly, join the marketplaces brands already search, and point them at content where products get clicked. The demand is there. In Influencer Marketing Hub's 2026 survey of 600+ marketers, 51.43% planned to expand work with nano creators and 52.83% with micro creators, against 20.59% for macro creators (Influencer Marketing Hub, May 2026). The hard part for brands is finding the right creator, and that is the gap you fill.

Every figure below comes from a page we opened on 23 October 2026, with its date. Setup101 is our product; we've said where it fits and where it doesn't.

Why brands want small creators now

  • They're planning to spend more on them. More than half of marketers in the survey above plan to expand nano and micro creator work. Only 7.55% plan to cut back on micro creators.
  • Small creators get more engagement. Across 1,527 paid deliverables, engagement per view was 4.6% for creators under 10,000 followers, against 2.6% for 250,000 to 1 million (inBeat, October 2026; inBeat is an influencer agency).
  • Finding creators is brands' biggest problem. In a Sprout Social survey, finding creators who match their target audience (42%) and brand values (41%) were companies' top challenges (Sprout Social, August 2026).

So the job isn't to convince brands that small creators work. It's to be the creator they find first.

1. Publish your rates

Put a short page in your link in bio: who your audience is, what you make, two or three examples, and fixed prices for what a brand can buy. In a survey of nearly 1,200 creators, 70% said they always or often receive offers below their standard rates (Aspire, September 2026; Aspire sells influencer software). A published price sets the anchor before the brand does. For what to charge, see How much to charge for a sponsored product placement.

2. Let brands book you directly

A rate card still needs an email back and forth. A booking page lets a brand pick a package and pay.

  • Passionfroot gives you a storefront brands can book. It charges you nothing on deals you bring in yourself; the brand pays 5%. On deals found through its partner network, you pay a 15% fee (Passionfroot help centre, July 2026).
  • Setup101 Sponsored Slots let brands book a spot for their product inside one of your setups (your list of the gear you use) for 1 week, 1 month or 3 months. You set the price for each length from $50, and approve every request. The brand pays your price plus 10%, and its card is only charged if you accept within 72 hours. Setup101 keeps 7.5% to 20% of your price, depending on your plan.

Be realistic about Setup101: brands find setups with open slots through Sponsor a creator and on setup pages, so a brand-new setup with few views won't get many requests. It works best once your setup link is in videos people already watch. How Sponsored Slots work.

3. Join the programs inside YouTube and TikTok

  • YouTube Creator Partnerships (formerly BrandConnect) lists you for brands looking inside YouTube. The official requirements: be at least 18, be in the YouTube Partner Program, be in an available country, and have no active Community Guidelines strikes (YouTube Help). The page states no separate subscriber threshold.
  • TikTok One (formerly TikTok Creator Marketplace) has no follower minimum to sign up, but projects need at least 1,000 followers, and requirements vary by project (TikTok, July 2026). Older guides that quote 10,000 followers are out of date.

4. Make the content brands look for

When marketers judge a creator, engagement or clicks (25.8%) and content type or category (25.1%) top their criteria (Influencer Marketing Hub, March 2026). Gear content does both: setup tours, "what I use" videos and reviews show products in use, and the links under them show what your audience clicks.

5. Show proof that your audience buys

Affiliate links are a sponsorship pitch that writes itself. When a brand can see that your audience clicks and buys the products you recommend, it doesn't need to be convinced. Keep those links working, because a dead link in an old video is a click nobody gets credit for. The free affiliate link checker shows which of yours are broken.

What to have ready before a brand finds you

  • One link to everything: your rates, your examples and your gear, in your bio and descriptions.
  • Your numbers: average views per video in the first month, audience location, and engagement, not just followers.
  • Two or three examples of content where a product was the focus.
  • Clear disclosure. Label every paid placement. Our affiliate disclosure guide covers the FTC and ASA rules.

FAQ

How many followers do you need to get sponsored?

There's no fixed number. TikTok One lets you sign up with any following, though projects need at least 1,000 followers. Brands are planning to spend more on creators under 10,000 followers, not less.

Do brands really work with creators under 10,000 followers?

Yes. In Influencer Marketing Hub's May 2026 survey, 51.43% of marketers planned to expand work with nano creators. Completed deals for creators under 10,000 followers paid a median of $134 per deliverable (inBeat, October 2026).

Is it better to pitch brands or let them come to you?

Do both, but make the inbound route easy first: published prices and a way to book cost you nothing once they're set up, and they work while you make content.
