Setup101 for YouTubers
Your old videos still get watched. Their links should still work.
Setup101 gives YouTubers one permanent link per setup to put in their video descriptions. When a product is discontinued or a link breaks, you change it once in Setup101, and every video that uses the link, old or new, shows the update.

One link, everywhere
Where to put your setup link.
| Where | What to write | Why it works |
|---|---|---|
| Video description | "Everything I use:" + your setup link | The first lines show above "more", so viewers see it without expanding. |
| Pinned comment | The same link, pinned | Many viewers read comments before the description. |
| Channel About and links | Your link-in-bio page | One place that lists every setup you have. |
| End screen and Shorts | "Gear in the description" | Shorts can't carry clickable links in the video, so point people to the description. |
When something changes, edit the setup — the link stays the same. How permanent links work
How it works
Three steps, about ten minutes.
- 01
Build a setup
Add the gear from the video, from any retailer, with your own affiliate links and a note on why you chose each one.
- 02
Paste one link
Put the setup link in the description and pinned comment, once.
- 03
Swap, don't re-edit
When a product is discontinued, replace it in the setup. Every video with the link is fixed, with no description to re-edit.

What Setup101 doesn't do
- Setup101 doesn't edit your existing YouTube descriptions; links already pasted there stay as they are until you replace them with your setup link.
- It shows clicks, not sales. Commission reports stay in your own affiliate accounts.
Questions, answered
What YouTubers ask first.
How do I update affiliate links in old YouTube videos?
Replace the product links in the description with one Setup101 setup link. From then on you change products in the setup, and every video that uses the link shows the update without editing the description again.
Does Setup101 take a cut of my affiliate commission?
No. Your links point to your own affiliate accounts, so the commission is yours.
Can I see which of my old links are broken?
Yes. Paste a video description into the free affiliate link checker and it shows which links work, which are broken and which Amazon links are missing your tag.
One setup per video, or one for my whole channel?
Either. A setup for your filming kit works in every video; a setup per review keeps each video's products together.
