Affiliate disclosure rules (FTC and ASA)
Available on:Pro and Pro Plus (buy links)Last updated
If you earn money from a link, tell people clearly and up front. Add a short line to your setup description such as "Some links are affiliate links: I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you." Say the same in your video descriptions. In the US this is an FTC requirement; in the UK it's the ASA/CAP code.
How to disclose on Setup101
- Open the setup editor.
- Near the start of the Description, add a disclosure, for example: "This setup contains affiliate links. If you buy through them I may earn a small commission."
- Click Save.
Good practice
- Clear and near the top. Not hidden at the end or behind "more".
- Plain words: "affiliate link", "I earn a commission", "ad", "sponsored".
- Gifted or paid products: say so in the product's description.
- In your videos and posts too, not just on Setup101.
This is general guidance, not legal advice. Check the FTC's endorsement guides and the ASA's influencer guidance for your situation.
