See which platforms drive your sales

Available on:Pro and Pro PlusLast updated

Which platforms drive your sales shows where your visitors were before they reached your Setup101 pages (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, search, your newsletter, Setup101 itself) and how many of them clicked Buy. It answers questions like "my YouTube description sent 412 visitors and 37 of them clicked Buy; my TikTok bio sent 90 and 2 did."

You'll find it on your dashboard, under Buy clicks, and in the Insights for each setup, product and your profile.

What you'll see

One row per platform:

  • Visitors: different people who arrived from that platform.
  • Buy clicks: clicks on your buy links by those visitors.
  • Click rate: buy clicks for every 100 visitors.

The top line tells you the platform behind most of your buy clicks, for example "YouTube brought 62% of your buy clicks." Pick a date range (7 days to all time), and on your dashboard choose one setup to see just that page.

How a visitor's platform is worked out

  1. If they used one of your platform links (a link ending in `?via=youtube`, for example), that platform.
  2. Otherwise, the site their browser says they came from: YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, Twitch, Reddit, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Discord, a search engine (Search), or a page on Setup101 (Setup101). Any other site, such as a blog post or a forum, gets a row of its own named after the site (for example myblog.com), with its own visitors and buy clicks. Your 10 busiest sites get rows; any more are added together under Other websites.
  3. If neither is known, Direct / unknown.

The platform is remembered for that browsing session, so a visitor who arrives from YouTube and clicks Buy a few pages later still counts for YouTube. Someone who comes back another day by typing your address counts as Direct.

Copy your links

Instagram and TikTok often hide where visitors came from, so their visitors can land in Direct / unknown. To see them, use a link for each platform:

  1. On your dashboard, click Copy your links (or the button under the platforms panel).
  2. Choose a page (your profile and link-in-bio, a setup or a course) and a platform.
  3. Copy the link, or download its QR code, and put it in that platform's bio, description or posts.

Links to your Setup101 pages in your newsletters are tagged as Newsletter for you.

Your own labels

Besides the built-in platforms you can add up to 10 labels of your own, such as a sponsor's name or a podcast episode. Remove one to make room for another. Labels you added keep counting if you change plans.

Privacy

No cookies are used. Setup101 keeps only the referring site's name (like `youtube.com`, never the full address) and a scrambled visitor code, the same way buy clicks are counted. You only ever see totals, never individual visitors. Bots, link previews and your own visits aren't counted, and the same person visiting again within 30 minutes counts once.

FAQ

Why is "Direct / unknown" so large?

Some apps (Instagram and TikTok especially) open links without saying where they came from. Use your platform links in those apps' bios and descriptions.

When does it start counting?

From 23 October 2026. Buy clicks from before then show as Direct / unknown.
