Free affiliate disclosure generator
Pick where your disclosure is going and what your connection to the brand is. You get wording you can copy, written the way the FTC expects, and exactly where to put it on that platform.
Your disclosure
Some links below are affiliate links: if you buy through them, I earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
Where to put it
- Make it the first line of the description, above your links, so it shows without clicking "more".
- Say it in the video too. The FTC says a disclosure only in the description isn't enough.

Placement
Where your disclosure goes, platform by platform
| Where | Put it | Why |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube video | Say it when you mention the product, and put it as the first line of the description, above the links. | The FTC says a disclosure only in the description isn't enough. |
| TikTok, Reels and Shorts | At the start of the caption, and as on-screen text. | Captions are cut off behind "more", and many people watch without sound. |
| Instagram Stories | On the Story itself, on every Story with the link. | A disclosure in your bio isn't seen by someone tapping a Story link. |
| Podcasts | Said out loud when you mention the product, and at the top of the show notes. | Listeners hear the recommendation, so they need to hear the disclosure. |
| Blog posts | Near the top, before the first affiliate link, and near the links. | The FTC says the closer to the recommendation, the better. |
| Link-in-bio pages | At the top of the page, above the links. | People arrive from a post and may never see your other disclosures. |
The rules
What the wording is based on
Every disclosure follows the FTC's Endorsement Guides and its guide for creators, plus the UK's influencer rules for UK audiences. The full explanation, with links to the FTC's own pages, is in our guide to affiliate disclosure for creators.
- Plain words that say what the connection is, like "I earn a commission". The FTC says "affiliate link" on its own isn't enough.
- Placed next to the link or recommendation, not only in your bio or on a separate page.
- Said out loud in videos and podcasts, as well as written down.
- "Ad" first for UK audiences, as the ASA and CMA expect for affiliate and paid content.
- Amazon Associates get Amazon's required statement: "As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases."
