Can people find my setup on Google, ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes, once your setup is public and listed. Listed setups are public pages that search engines can read and index, and Setup101 doesn't block the crawlers that ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity use for search. Nobody can guarantee where a page ranks or whether an AI assistant mentions it, but your setup has the same chance as any other well-built page.

What makes a setup findable

A setup can be indexed when it's public and listed: public, with at least one photo and at least one public product or app. See who can see your setup. Private setups, and public ones that aren't listed yet, are kept out of search engines.

For listed setups, Setup101:

  • builds the page so search engines see its full content, including every product
  • marks up the product list so search engines know it's a list of products
  • lists the setup in Setup101's sitemap, the file that tells search engines which pages exist
  • gives the page one permanent address, so links to it never change

How AI assistants find pages

ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity answer many questions by searching the web, then citing the pages they find. Each company runs a search crawler: OAI-SearchBot for ChatGPT, Claude-SearchBot for Claude and PerplexityBot for Perplexity. Setup101 lets all three in. Google's AI Overviews use pages that are already in Google's index, with no special setup needed.

How to help your setup get found

  1. Get it listed. Add a cover photo and at least one public product.
  2. Write a clear title and description. Say what the setup is for ("Home office for video editing") and name the main products. That's the wording people search for.
  3. Add a note to each product. Why you chose it is the kind of detail AI answers quote.
  4. Link to it. Put the setup link in your video descriptions, bio and posts. Links from other sites help search engines find and trust a page.
  5. Keep it up to date. Swap discontinued products, so the page stays useful.

How long does it take to show up on Google?

It varies, from days to weeks. Search engines decide when to crawl and index a page, and Setup101 can't speed that up.

Will my setup show up in ChatGPT or Claude?

It can, but there's no guarantee. AI assistants choose which pages to cite for each question. A listed setup with a clear title, named products and links pointing to it has the best chance.

Can I stop my setup from appearing in search?

Yes. Make it private and it isn't indexed. Pages that are already indexed drop out as search engines recrawl them.

Are my private products or notes shown to search engines?

No. Private setups and private products aren't public, so search engines and AI assistants can't see them.
